Mark R. Baril – B. Mgt., J.D.
Lawyer/Mediator/Founder
Mark Baril is a lawyer and the founder of Clear Title Law. Having lived most of his life in and around the Lethbridge area, he is proud to call southern Alberta home. He and his wife Sara have raised 5 children and now enjoy the late years of parenting and early years of grandparenthood!
After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan College of Law in 2005, Mark joined Stringam Denecky as an associate and later a partner. He later became a founding partner of Stringam LLP. Mark is thrilled to now bring his large firm experience to the small firm and friendly environment of Clear Title Law.
Business ownership and management are not new to Mark. He was an entrepreneur at an early age, selling collections and wares through the neighborhood, even before grade school. Mark created and operated two businesses while attending and graduating with Honors from the Lethbridge College Business Administration program, and the University of Lethbridge Business Management program.
As a lawyer and mediator, Mark’s focuses on his client’s real estate, business, agriculture, estate planning and administration legal matters.
Mark is recognized by Best Lawyers® in Real Estate Law for 2024, for his work in residential, commercial, and agricultural real estate and financing transactions.
Mark also works extensively in the areas of business and corporate law, including start-ups, growth and acquisition transactions, reorganizations, transitions, and dispositions. Mark’s work in estate planning goes beyond just preparing simple wills. Gaining a clear understanding of client’s estates, Mark can assist clients with developing comprehensive estate and succession plans through complex business and farm succession and planning strategies and estate administration. Mark is committed to earning his client’s trust and providing clear advice to meet each client’s individual needs.
When not practicing law, Mark enjoys spending time with family and friends, or serving in the community. He may be found at the lake, in the mountains, or on the pickleball court. He also volunteers on various boards, working with youth, and engaging in politics. He and Sara are currently working closely with an orphanage and school in Uganda, changing the lives of the 45 children currently cared for by the orphanage. They recently helped purchase land for a new permanent home location, and have commenced construction of a dormitory, school, and related buildings on the lands.
Trista is southern Albertan through and through! Being born in Lethbridge, and raised between Taber and Lethbridge where she has continued to live for most of her life, she is well known and liked by many people throughout the region.
After graduating high school, as a young and busy mom to her children, and an extra soft heart for rescue animals, Trista wasn’t left with a lot of downtime. Once her children began attending school full time, she was determined to continue with her own education, building on her life experience and knowledge. Trista attended and graduated from Reeves College where she obtained her Paralegal Diploma.
For the past 15 years, Trista has worked in the southern Alberta legal industry. She has been fortunate to work and gain experience as a paralegal in many areas of law over the course of her career. Since 2017, Trista’s work has been concentrated in the areas of Residential Real Estate, Commercial and Agricultural Real Estate and Commercial Financing, Wills and Estate Planning, along with Probate and Estate Administration. Also being a Commissioner for Oaths, Trista’s experience and depth of knowledge is a substantial asset to Clear Title Law and each of our clients.
When Trista isn’t in the kitchen cooking up a new recipe or baking some tasty treat, she may be found just about anywhere trying something new or working on a new hobby. If she’s ever missing and not in any of those places, you will likely find her spending as much time as she can with her family, animals, and friends.

Sara L. Baril
Office/Technical Assistant
Sara was raised in Raymond, Alberta as the oldest of Robert and Mary Bissett’s eight children. After finishing Raymond High School, she then attended Ricks College in Idaho and the Lethbridge Community College studying Early Childhood Development, before marrying Mark Baril.
Early in their marriage, she worked as a legal assistant at Stringam Denecky (now Stringam LLP). When she began to have children, she stayed home to raise them, but has always had an interest in the legal profession and been an ongoing support to Mark as he has grown in his career.
Sara’s interests, besides her family, include composing and publishing original music. This endeavour has created many opportunities for public speaking, sharing, and for study and growth in technical knowledge in order to publish and manage a small music business. With almost 100 pieces of sheet music, including over 30 recorded songs, her music has been sung and performed worldwide.
Sara and Mark are the proud parents of five wonderful children and are now embarking on the new adventures of being grandparents. As almost empty-nesters, Sara is in now a position to help Mark with Clear Title Law and to be a support in whatever capacities are needed, including typing and commissioning documents, managing/maintaining this website and helping to manage different aspects of the firm. Somewhere in those duties she will always find time to bake, garden, spend quality time with her children and grandchildren and of course, write and share her music.
It has been a wonderful opportunity to assist Mark in the development of this new law firm, and she will continue to support her husband in this new endeavour. You will find Sara along side Mark as they both put their hearts into serving clients with various legal needs throughout Alberta.
