AWARDS & RECOGNITION
Best Lawyers® 2024 and 2025
Mark Baril is a lethbridge lawyer and founder of Clear Title Law. Having lived most of his life in Lethbridge, Raymond and Magrath, he is proud to call southern Alberta home and deliver legal services in these and other communities. He and his wife Sara have raised 5 children and currently enjoy the late years of parenting and early years of grandparenthood!
After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan College of Law in 2005, Mark joined Stringam Denecky as an associate and later a partner. He later became a founding partner of Stringam LLP. Mark is thrilled to now bring his large firm experience as a real estate lawyer, a corporate lawyer and an estate lawyer to the friendly and welcoming environment of Clear Title Law.
Business ownership and management are not new to Mark. He was an entrepreneur at an early age, selling collections and wares through the neighborhood, even before grade school. Mark founded and operated two businesses while attending and graduating with Honors from the Lethbridge College (Lethbridge Polytechnic) Business Administration program, and the University of Lethbridge Business Management program, while also working as a business analyst at the Community Futures Development Centre, helping entrepreneurs with disabilities plan and start businesses.
As a lawyer and mediator, Mark’s focuses his practice in the areas of real estate law, business law, agriculture law, estate planning and estate administration law.
Mark has been recognized by Best Lawyers® in Canada for his work in in Real Estate Law for two years running, in 2024 and 2025. Mark practices residential real estate law, commercial real estate law, and agricultural real estate law, including residential and commercial financing transactions.
Mark works extensively in the areas of business and corporate law, including start-ups, growth and acquisition transactions, reorganizations, transitions, and dispositions.
Mark enjoys helping client build and maintain their legacies. He believes that estate planning goes beyond preparing simple wills. Gaining a clear understanding of client’s estates and their long term goals, Mark assists clients with developing comprehensive estate and succession plans including complex business and farm succession and planning strategies. Mark is committed to earning his client’s trust and providing clear advice to meet each client’s individual needs.
When not practicing law, Mark enjoys spending time with family and friends, or serving in the community. On a day outside of the office, he may be found at the lake, in the mountains, or on the pickleball court (playing very mediocre pickleball). He volunteers on a number of boards, working with youth, disabled and underprivileged groups, and engaging in politics. He and Sara are currently working with an orphanage and school in Uganda, changing the lives of many children currently cared for by the orphanage. They recently helped purchase land for a new permanent boarding school location to house the children, and have commenced construction of some buildings on the land. The temporary school that has recently been constructed on the lands quickly became the educational facility to more than 100 children who did not have access to a school previously.
Sara L. Baril
Client Care Specialist
Legal Assistant
Sara was raised in Raymond, Alberta as the oldest of Robert and Mary Bissett’s eight children. After finishing Raymond High School, she then attended Ricks College in Idaho and the Lethbridge Community College studying Early Childhood Development, before marrying Mark Baril.
Early in their marriage, she worked as a legal assistant at Stringam LLP in several capactities before staying home to raise their five children. Sara has always had an interest in the legal profession and been an ongoing support to Mark as he has grown in his legal career.
Sara’s interests, besides her family, include composing and publishing original music. This endeavour has created many opportunities for public speaking, sharing, and for study and growth in technical knowledge in order to publish and manage a small music business. With almost 100 pieces of sheet music, including over 30 professionally recorded songs, her music has been sung and performed worldwide.
Sara and Mark are the proud parents of five wonderful children and now grandparents! As almost empty-nesters, Sara is in a great position to help Mark with many aspects of Clear Title Law, including managing/maintaining this website and assisting in the Corporate Department. It has been really fun to work together and build a new firm!
Somewhere in all of these new duties she finds time to bake, garden, spend quality time with her children and grandchildren and of course, write and share her music.
Trista E. Sincennes
Paralegal
Office Administrator
Trista is southern Albertan through and through! Being born in Lethbridge, and raised between Taber and Lethbridge where she has continued to live for most of her life, she is well known and liked by many people throughout the region.
After graduating high school, as a young and busy mom to her children, and an extra soft heart for rescue animals, Trista wasn’t left with a lot of downtime. Once her children began attending school full time, she was determined to continue with her own education, building on her life experience and knowledge. Trista attended and graduated from Reeves College where she obtained her Paralegal Diploma.
For the past 15 years, Trista has worked in the southern Alberta legal industry. She has been fortunate to work and gain experience as a paralegal in many areas of law over the course of her career. Since 2017, Trista’s work has been concentrated in the areas of Residential Real Estate, Commercial and Agricultural Real Estate and Commercial Financing, Wills and Estate Planning, along with Probate and Estate Administration. Also being a Commissioner for Oaths, Trista’s experience and depth of knowledge is a substantial asset to Clear Title Law and each of our clients.
When Trista isn’t in the kitchen cooking up a new recipe or baking some tasty treat, she may be found just about anywhere trying something new or working on a new hobby. If she’s ever missing and not in any of those places, you will likely find her spending as much time as she can with her family, animals, and friends.
