Best Lawyers® 2024 and 2025
Mark Baril, B.Mgt, J.D.
Founder & Lawyer, Clear Title Law
Trusted Legal Experience in Southern Alberta
Mark Baril is the founder of Clear Title Law and a recognized leader in real estate, business, and estate law across Southern Alberta. With nearly 20 years of legal experience—and recognition by Best Lawyers® in Canada for Real Estate Law in both 2024 and 2025—Mark combines the expertise of a former large-firm partner with the approachable, client-focused service of a local practice.
Professional Background
After earning his law degree from the University of Saskatchewan College of Law in 2005, Mark began his career with Stringam Denecky as an associate and later a partner. He went on to help establish Stringam LLP before founding Clear Title Law, where he continues to provide trusted legal advice in a welcoming, community-centered environment.
Mark’s business background adds a unique perspective to his legal work. Before entering law, he completed his Business Administration studies at Lethbridge College (Lethbridge Polytechnic) and his Business Management degree at the University of Lethbridge, graduating with honours. He also gained early entrepreneurial experience founding and operating two businesses, and worked as a business analyst at the Community Futures Development Centre, where he supported entrepreneurs with disabilities in launching new ventures.
Practice Focus
Mark is dedicated to helping individuals, families, and businesses protect their assets, achieve their goals, and build lasting legacies. His practice includes:
Real Estate Law – Residential, commercial, and agricultural transactions, including purchase, sale, leasing, and financing.
Business & Corporate Law – Supporting entrepreneurs with start-ups, reorganizations, growth and acquisition strategies, succession planning, and business sales.
Estate Planning & Succession – Beyond preparing wills, Mark works with families, professionals, and farm owners to develop customized succession plans, including advanced strategies for complex estates.
Agriculture Law – Providing guidance to farming families and agri-businesses in property transactions, business structuring, and generational succession.
Recognition & Commitment
Mark’s recognition by Best Lawyers® in Canada underscores his standing as a respected practitioner in the legal community. He is committed to earning the trust of every client by delivering clear, practical advice tailored to each individual’s needs.
Community & Family
A lifelong Southern Albertan, Mark has lived in Lethbridge, Raymond, and Magrath. He and his wife, Sara, have raised five children and are enjoying the early years of grandparenthood.
Outside the office, Mark enjoys time with family and friends, days at the lake or in the mountains, and the occasional game of pickleball (by his own admission, at a very mediocre level). Dedicated to service, he volunteers on several boards, supports youth and disability programs, and is actively involved in politics.
Together with Sara, Mark also works with an orphanage and school in Uganda, helping expand educational opportunities for children in need. Recently, they assisted with the purchase of land and the construction of new facilities, transforming access to education for more than 100 children in the community.
Why Clients Choose Mark:
Clients turn to Mark for his ability to blend big-firm expertise with small-firm care. Whether buying a home, growing a business, or planning for the future, Mark ensures clients receive clear guidance, responsive communication, and solutions designed to protect what matters most.
Sara L. Baril
Client Care Specialist
Legal Assistant
Sara was raised in Raymond, Alberta as the oldest of Robert and Mary Bissett’s eight children, and is married to Mark Baril. After finishing Raymond High School, she attended Ricks College in Idaho and the Lethbridge Community College studying Early Childhood Development.
Early in her marriage, she worked as a legal assistant at Stringam LLP before staying home to raise their five children. Sara has always had an interest in the legal profession and has enjoyed being part of the start-up of Clear Title Law and supporting Mark in his legal career.
Besides working with her husband, Sara enjoys composing and publishing original music. This endeavour has created many opportunities for public speaking, sharing, and for study and growth in technical knowledge in order to publish and manage a small music business. With over 75 pieces of published sheet music, including over 30 professionally recorded songs, her music has been sung and performed worldwide.
Sara and Mark are the parents of five wonderful children and grandparents of three. In her spare time, Sara finds time to bake, garden, spend quality time with her children and grandchildren and of course, write and share her music.
Trista E. Sincennes
Paralegal
Office Administrator
Trista is southern Albertan through and through! Being born in Lethbridge, and raised between Taber and Lethbridge where she has continued to live for most of her life, she is well known and liked by many people throughout the region.
After graduating high school, as a young and busy mom to her children, and an extra soft heart for rescue animals, Trista wasn’t left with a lot of downtime. Once her children began attending school full time, she was determined to continue with her own education, building on her life experience and knowledge. Trista attended and graduated from Reeves College where she obtained her Paralegal Diploma.
For the past 15 years, Trista has worked in the southern Alberta legal industry. She has been fortunate to work and gain experience as a paralegal in many areas of law over the course of her career. Since 2017, Trista’s work has been concentrated in the areas of Residential Real Estate, Commercial and Agricultural Real Estate and Commercial Financing, Wills and Estate Planning, along with Probate and Estate Administration. Also being a Commissioner for Oaths, Trista’s experience and depth of knowledge is a substantial asset to Clear Title Law and each of our clients.
When Trista isn’t in the kitchen cooking up a new recipe or baking some tasty treat, she may be found just about anywhere trying something new or working on a new hobby. If she’s ever missing and not in any of those places, you will likely find her spending as much time as she can with her family, animals, and friends.
Taylee C. Baril
Client Care Specialist
Legal Assistant
Taylee is the fourth child of Mark and Sara Baril and recently returned home in October 2025 from serving a mission for her church in Romania for eighteen months. She has been accepted to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah for the fall of 2026 where she will begin her studies in psychology.
As a previously trained office assistant in a medical clinic, she now joins our team as Clear Title Law’s client care specialist, front desk receptionist and assists with document preparation in our real estate and wills and estate planning departments.
Following her graduation from High School in 2022, she had a unique and fulfilling experience volunteering with the International Language Program – uniquely also in Romania – for a few months in the orphanage system where she worked daily with special needs children.
Besides her world travels, Taylee enjoys spending time with her family and friends, baking amazing cinnamon buns, and like her mother, also writes and arranges music.
Fun fact about Taylee: If you are ever put on hold on the phone at Clear Title Law, you’ll hear one of her compositions as the soothing background music.
